The Power of Surrender
Everyone wants God’s blessings. Everyone wants transformation. But very few are willing to embrace the one posture that unlocks both: surrender.
We live in a culture that tells us to fight harder, push further, and never let go. Control feels safe. Independence feels strong. But in the Kingdom, the way up is always down, and the way to victory is through surrender.
Why We Resist Surrender
Let’s be honest: surrender feels like losing. It feels like giving up control over the outcome. We fear that if we let go, things will fall apart.
We fear loss — of relationships, opportunities, or security.
We fear weakness — being seen as incapable or dependent.
We fear the unknown — what happens if God’s way doesn’t look like ours?
But here’s the truth: refusing to surrender doesn’t protect us — it keeps us stuck. Holding on to control is like clinging to sand; the tighter you squeeze, the faster it slips through your fingers.
What True Surrender Looks Like
Surrender is not a one-time act; it’s a daily choice.
With your will: saying “not my will, but Yours be done” (Luke 22:42).
With your habits: allowing the Spirit to lead instead of old patterns.
With your relationships: letting go of toxic ties, even when it hurts.
With your finances: trusting God with provision instead of hoarding out of fear.
With your identity: no longer defining yourself by the world, but by who God says you are.
Surrender is trust in action. It says: “Lord, I don’t just believe You in theory. I trust You with the details of my life.”
How the 90-Day Challenge Helps Us Surrender
This is why surrender is built into the 90-Day Kingdom Refinement Challenge.
Through fasting, we let go of what comforts the flesh to rely on the Spirit.
Through prayer, we learn to yield our voice and listen for His.
Through obedience, we train ourselves to act on God’s Word, not just admire it.
Every practice, every discipline, every challenge is designed to loosen our grip on control and strengthen our trust in God’s hands.
The Freedom Found in Surrender
Here’s the paradox: when you surrender, you don’t lose — you gain.
You lose fear and gain peace.
You lose striving and gain rest.
You lose your plan and gain His purpose.
The things you were afraid to let go of often pale in comparison to what God places in your hands once you release them.
Reflection Question
What is one thing you’re still gripping tightly — a plan, a relationship, a fear, or a comfort — that God is asking you to surrender? Write it down, pray over it, and lay it at His feet today.
